Rooted in images that surfaced during psychoanalytic sessions, Atrak’s new body of work interweaves mythology, personal symbols, and historic visual references. Through the printmaking process, she has given form to inner visions that, though personal, invite broad interpretation.

She explains, “The phrase Kun Fayakun came to me in a session—both terrifying and liberating. It reflected the risk of revealing those inner images, but also the divine or creative will to bring them into being.”

Born in Isfahan and based in Tehran, Atrak began her professional art career in 2013. Her multidisciplinary works—ranging from paintings and sculpture to video and performance—navigate themes of loss, resilience, mental health, and the subconscious.

Nozadian believes that making a fictional world believable requires creating a complete identity for its environment and even its characters. These imaginary worlds also reflect his lived experiences. In recent years, Nozadian has created art collections that explore profound themes of existence, including changes in habitation, migration, and confronting loss.

Nozadian views the home as the first recognizable space for humans — not merely a physical place but a profound concept of presence and absence. Referring to the writings of Gaston Bachelard, the French philosopher, and epistemologist, he states that a home is a vessel for dreams and a shelter for imagination — the primary means of perceiving, experiencing, and imagining the world around us.

Nozadian’s experience of living in various cities and his frequent relocations during childhood and adulthood, including migration, have significantly shaped his perspectives and artistic works. He has consistently grappled with the concept of rooting and uprooting, especially within social, economic, and political contexts. Living in conditions oscillating between construction and collapse is part of his daily experience as an artist, a reality that resonates in his works.

Nozadian highlights the influence of his wanderings in different cities and locations on his artistic understanding. He regards the concept of the flâneur, introduced by the French poet and writer Charles Baudelaire, as one of the essential elements of his work. Wandering, meaning aimless strolling through streets and experiencing urban spaces in a personal and internalized way, is a concept vividly reflected in Nozadian’s works. He views wandering not just as a physical act but as a tool for understanding and perceiving, and as a way of life.
