Mrs. Farmanfarmaian dreamed of holding a gallery in this museum in the early 1950s when they were walking in the neighborhood of their home in New York City. The Guggenheim Museum was under construction at that time and was not yet finished. Six decades later, his dream became a reality. The “Infinite Possibility” exhibition is the first solo exhibition of an Iranian artist at the Guggenheim Museum.<\/p>\n

His special style includes the combination of glass painting, mirror work, inlay work, Islamic geometry and architectural design. Munir Shahroudi Farmanfarmayan used to stare at the ceiling of his room and stare at the flowers and their beauty when he was a child. Perhaps it was in those moments that Mounir Farmanfarmayan was inspired by the Iranian tradition to join the great artistic world of the world. While living in New York City, they met Andy Verhol, and this acquaintance and collaboration in works led to the transfer and exchange of information.<\/p>\n

In 1957, Farmanfarmaian returned to Iran and started collecting Iranian works of art. During his travels, he collected more than 60 works and coffee house paintings, thousands of mirrors and silver-plated jewelry, doors, windows and wall panels.<\/p>\n

The Guggenheim exhibition represents 40 years of his artistic life. A part of this exhibition is located in the Guggenheim Museum in front of a window facing Central Park. It is as if the modern Iranian tradition and art is having a conversation with the modern world of New York.<\/p>\n
