James Haywood is a Franco-British artist and designer whose work moves between contemporary sculpture, experimental design, and material research. Born in 1991 and based near Montpellier, France, he was originally trained in aerospace engineering. This scientific background strongly informs his artistic practice, leading him to explore the structural possibilities of alternative mineral materials, including experimental forms of concrete and natural mineral resin. Through carefully crafted sculptures\u2014often produced as unique pieces\u2014Haywood investigates the relationship between matter, form, and the cosmic landscapes that inspire his imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Working as both an experimenter and craftsman, he develops his pieces entirely within his own studio, from early sketches and material tests to mould-making, casting, finishing, electronics, and documentation.
